Weight Loss

We all know in most cases to lose weight we need to eat less, eat healthily and exercise more and on most occasions diets, along with regular exercise, work. So if we know this why do so many of us fail to keep the weight off on a long term basis?

The most important factor is not which diet or exercise regime you choose but how motivated you are to maintain your weight loss. The ‘psychological factor’ we believe (along with may other experts from around the world) is what really makes the difference.

Psychologically if we see cutting out fattening foods as a negative eventually when we are feeling low or in need of a treat we will break our diet. Many can manage their diets most of the time but when they have a few drinks, go partying or perhaps have a bust up at work or at home they reach for the chocolate. Having low self esteem, perhaps being bullied at school, going through a break up or having had a traumatic or upsetting experience can effect how you feel about your body image.

As many will have seen on televisions programmes such as Celebrity Fit Club, Inch Loss Island (GMT) and numerous documentaries about weight loss the use of Clinical Hypnosis (Hypnotherapy) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has become widely accepted as a useful and powerful part of losing weight.

In our Deep Impact Brief Therapy © (DIBT©) protocol for losing weight we use visualisations to help define clear goals, Clinical Hypnosis to look at old issues that may be contributing to weight issues and to raise self esteem, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to give you quick techniques to help you avoid fattening foods and any other therapies that may be appropriate to your specific needs.

This treatment is like an 'emotional make over' to help get you fully motivated to follow whichever diet and exercise regime you choose. Our Clinical Director undertook some training with TV's Pete Cohen (author or several books on weight loss and often seen on GMTV, Inch Loss Island and numerous documentaries) and firmly supports and uses his techniques along with a few of his own (see article by Christopher on weight loss including and interview with Pete Cohen.)

For further information email Christopher to arrange a time for a free telephone consultation to discuss your case and establish if this type of treatment is appropriate for you.
