Counselling
There are various styles of counselling (Rogerian, Gestalt, Humanistic etc.) but they all aim to help you work though an emotional problem by talking about it.
Counsellors generally will not give specific advice or try to tell you what you should do - the aim is to help you work the solutions out yourself.
Counselling is very effective in the areas of relationship problems (Relate) and bereavement (Cruse) and we advise you contact these organisations in the first instance. Go to the Links page on this site for website links.
For most other areas at the Peel Clinic we do not generally offer counselling as a sole therapy however it does form part of all the therapies we offer.
Our clients generally are looking for the quickest solutions and counselling can involve seeing a counseller every week for several months and sometimes years.
Whilst there are some serious conditions that cannot be resolved in just a few weeks - with the right therapy often most can. See Deep Impact Brief Therapy © on the treatments section of this website.
